Underwater Footage! Today we’re headed back underwater to watch footage of bass in their natural environment. As we transition into the post-spawn and ultimately toward Summer we know that bass follow two behavioral patterns. The fish either head deep to the ledges and rock outcrops or they head shallow and burrow in to cover. Today we’re going to focus on the behavior of the shallow bass.
As bass move into shallow cover they begin feeding heavily. Anglers can pursue them with a variety of methods but our favorites are topwater and heavy flipping. Today’s video focuses heavily on topwater and gives us an incredibly unique underwater view of how bass line up and attack topwater baits from below.
There is an incredible amount of information to be learned by watching exactly how these bass feed. From how they stalk, to how far they’re willing to move, to watch causes the “trigger” in their feeding response, you can become a much better angler just watching their reactions as baits pass overhead. We hope you enjoy the footage!
Below is a breakdown of the baits used in the video as well as a few extras that Tim really likes this time of year.
